HI, I’M LINDA,
Come down to the water, put your feet in the sand……
There is so much chaos in and around us, as an artist, I want to create moments in time, a feeling, a memory, an invitation to just breathe and be.
I paint where I am, the Redlands, the seas, the beaches, the rainforest, the pandanus, working mainly in acrylic, often weaving text, certainly intention, until the painting takes on a life of its own. I don’t paint what I see, rather what I feel – the feeling of being in that landscape.
I’m fascinated with colour, pattern, indigenous expression, and the power of art, all arts really, to influence.
Born in NZ and living for part of my life surrounded by Māori & Pacific Island cultures, raw & rugged beauty, the mystery & spiritual intensity of the Land of the Long White Cloud, will always be a part of me – but Australia – this is where I’ve placed my feet in the sand – its big skies, open spaces, conflicted history, open-hearted optimism – endless opportunities for moments. Moments in time…
I now live in Raby Bay, Cleveland, where my daily walks take in the everchanging moods of the sea and rainforests providing a rich repository of material to draw from.
